Always double check everything. I went to get a new vehicle. I played dumb as the new car purchaser trying to figure out as much as I could. I asked about the carfax (although I already saw it). I was told that the car was clean and specifically no accidents (the carfax showed an accident). I asked if I could see the print out. When I went back in to see he said the carfax website was down and couldn't get me one. After the test drive, he gave me a copy of the carfax (only after I asked again for it). It was the same make and model with almost the same mileage except it was not the car on his lot. It was a for a car in Texas. I double checked the VIN when I had a mechanic check the vehicle and sure enough, not the same VIN. When I got back I showed the salesman the real carfax and asked for a lower price. He just said "Did I give you the wrong one? I have another one on my lot." There was another on the lot, but not the same year or mileage or VIN as the carfax report he gave me. All I wanted was honesty and I patiently gave him opportunities to tell me the truth but never got it. Always double check everything. Even though I felt it was dishonest, I still got the car because it was a good price for the vehicle. He was very helpful getting everything switched over after all was said and done.
