I was in this K-Mart this very day and an elderly gentleman was shopping with his wife. A sound rang out, a terrible sound, the kind of sound you never want to hear. He had fallen and cracked his head open. He wasn't moving initially, blood was oozing from the back of his head as I ran over to him. I knelt down, he was laying flat on the floor. People gathered around in shock so I began barking orders as if I was still in the military. To the stunned onlookers I shouted, "call 911 now", another second passed, "get out your cell phone and dial 911, NOW!" A couple people came out of their shock and began dialing. A young lady who dialed didn't know what to do next so I said, "ma'am, give me your phone" she relinquished it to me just as the operator asked, "Is this an emergency?" I responded, "Yes, I am at the K-Mart in Kokomo, an elderly man has fallen and cracked his head open, he is bleeding severely, we need an Ambulance immediately, we are in the store!" I returned the phone to its owner, bent down and took the hand of the gentleman and assured him the ambulance was on its way and that he was going to be just fine. But I knew different. Another lady kept his head steady. I then spoke lloudly to the crowd, "someone find the medical aisle and get some gauze!" I looked to see a elderly lady go to get it and thought she would take too long, to no fault of her own, so I got up and sprinted to the other side of the store, scanned the aisle for gauze, grabbed it and ran back, tearing open the package as I ran. I made a pillow of gauze, the kind lady and I carefully raised his head, she was a nurse, and we rested his head upon it. My hands were bright red by now. The man asked, "Where am I?" His wife looking on and stunned herself said, "You are in Kroger's, I mean K-Mart". I answered, "You sir are in K-Mart, you have fallen and have a bump on your head and you are going to be alright". When I saw that he was in good hands, I ran to the front of the store and went outside to already hear the ambulance sirens coming. And the rudest female parametric I ever met encountered me. I stood in front of the door frantically waving my arms to come into the store but they just slowly drove around the parking lot. They drove past me and were driving away. I sprinted after the ambulance, caught them on the other side, the driver, nonchalantly rolled down his window. I said, "he is inside the store". The female shouted back at me, "The dispatch said it was in the parking lot!" Now I'm pissed. I said, "drive to the doors he is inside and bring a strecher!" Then they start to put their gloves on and walk in. "I said get your strecher!" So this female calls the cops on me. We have a 10 second shouting match in which I told them to do their job, and at least they got it and went inside. With the cops coming for me, and their was nothing else to do, I drove off. The K-Mart staff and manager were splendid and I give them all 5 stars for handling everything perfectly under the circumstances. Go K-Mart.
Great deals!! Staff was very helpful.
Found everything I needed! Came from Lebanon Indiana, to Christmas shop be ause the one in Lafayette and Brownsburg closed and the Kokomo store is our easiest to shop at now!
Items had no price on them, one person out on floor to help. He had to carry large lawn chair to scan an it wouldn't scan, so he took all way to the front for price. I couldn't have done that being older. Then I need price on other chairs he helped me there as well. I mentioned to the Lady Manager that the entrance to garden we couldn't get in an they need sign so we don't park, walk up there to find it closed. She wasn't happy with me cos I said you need floor people so myself or others don't have to walk all over the store. She said this is a Holiday an I DON'T have to Shop there!!! Really???? btw the chairs were extremely to high in money!!! Meijer just sold their's out at $15 each. Different color but same chair... kmart was $45 an that was on sale!!! It will be sooner than later til kmart closes as sears did! Horrible people that their title makes them think their all that.
